Hello,

I’m Ruby (she/her) an author, editor and founder of To Be Read CIC. I live in Edinburgh with my husband, two cats and a houseplant called Peggy. I am excellent at wordplay and terrible at finishing cups of tea.

I’ve worked in publishing for over a decade and in that time gained experience working on a wide variety of trade and academic titles, with a particular focus on children’s books.

In July 2025 I founded To Be Read, a social enterprise dedicated to broadening the diversity, equity and inclusivity of UK publishing. TBR works with editors, authors and literary agents to champion underrepresented voices.

When I’m not hunched over my laptop you can find me performing in and around Edinburgh as a storyteller for adults and children, hosting events and workshops, writing various essays, books and short stories and working freelance on all sorts of other projects.

I am always looking for new clients so please reach out using my contact form if you have a project you think I might be suited to, or even if you just want to chat books.
